Finding treatment in Japan

Japan offers hospital cancer care, particle therapy, and immune-cell and regenerative therapies provided under the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine. Finding the right clinic from abroad is hard: many websites are only in Japanese, many clinics need a referral, and fees for international patients differ from published domestic prices. This directory summarizes each clinic’s public information in English: its focus, treatments, doctors and how it handles international patients. JapanMedAssist is a coordination service, not a medical provider. We review your records, check which clinics fit your case, arrange a physician review, and handle translation, interpreters and scheduling. We are independent from the clinics listed here unless a page says otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a clinic in Japan?

Start from your diagnosis and treatment history, not from a treatment name. Send us your records and a coordinator will suggest clinics that fit your case and ask their physicians to review it.

Can I be treated in Japan without Japanese insurance?

Yes. International patients are treated as self-pay patients. Many clinics accept foreign patients only through a coordinator or with a referral letter, and fees differ from published domestic prices.

Are the treatments listed here approved in Japan?

Many treatments listed here are self-pay (not covered by Japanese public insurance) and some are not approved as standard treatment in Japan. Regenerative and cell therapies are provided under registered plans based on the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine.

What does JapanMedAssist do?

We are an international patient coordination service. We translate records, match you with clinics, and arrange medical reviews, appointments and interpreters. We are not a medical institution.
